Lankavatara Ocean Retreat is a boutique hotel located in Kahandamodara, on one of endless pristine beaches of Sri Lankan Deep South, far from the crowds and noise of major tourist destinations.
Kalamatiya is a small fishing village and a bird reserve of the same name. It is located 214 km south from Colombo and 15 km from Tangalle. The nature is stunningly beautiful here and we tried to harmoniously fit in it in hotel offering a high level of comfort and sophistication.
Just 20 minutes’ walk from the hotel there is a beautiful Kalamatiya nature park consisting of many lagoons and islets, serving as a wintering and nesting site for exotic birds from around the world. Observe the life of the birds from the shore or order a guided tour by boat around the quiet coves of the reserve. The region is a great starting point for numerous visits such as Galle-the capital of the province and a real purl of colonial architecture, Sinharaja rainforest, Mulkirigala cave, Yala national park, hilltop tea plantations and a lot more.
