|Visit Peradeniya botanical garden.(Magnificent river girdled 57 hectare (147 Acres) laid out in 1832 are among the finest in the world. Its treasures of tropical flora include fine collections of Orchids, Aromatic spices, Medicinal herbs, palms and rare endangered plant species. This garden was naturally camouflaged operation headquarters of Supreme Allied Commander, Lord Louis Mountbatten during the 2nd World War.
En route you will visit spice plantation, that grow a variety of spices such as cinnamon, pepper, nutmeg, for which Sri Lanka was renown and initially colonized by Portuguese, Dutch and British.
You could visit Gem lapidary and museum (To see how precious stones are mining, cut and polished and engraved. Sri Lanka is the most famous in the world for Sapphires of all colours, Rubies, Tourmalines and many more. Kandy is a great place to buy gem stones. Visit Batik factory and watch the production of the artistic fabric.
Then continue to Kandy and visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha. This is the most sacred temple to the Buddhists in the world. Ever since it was founded in the 16th century, it has housed one of the most sacred relics of Buddhism – a tooth of Lord Buddha collected from his funeral pyre and which is now protected in the Seven Golden Caskets within the gold-roofed temple of the tooth.
Kandy is the old capital of Ceylon and seat of the last Sinhalese kingdom. (Sinhala is the main language in Sri Lanka) Its charming city with Temples, ancient artificial lake amongst rolling hills that are covered by forests and tea plantations. Set in the mountainous area of the island, there are fantastic views over the city from some of the hotels. Later in the evening after conclusion the tour returns to the hotel.
