Riverstone (Illukkumbura) is located in between Matale - Wasgamuwa road and it is a well known beautiful place that most local and foreign travelers visit. It has a specific natural beauty and lot of sceneries to see. Manigala (mountain of measurement (of time)) is located there. Most travelers are climbing it up to see the beauty of Knuckles range and also can see the beautiful Thelgamu-Oya River.
The distance from Colombo to there is 178km and this trail can be used as a off road trip as well. For that a 4*4 Drive is required. The people who live there are very friendly and only few old villages can be seen. The Manigala has unique flat area on the top of the mountain which resembles the spine of the elephant and the interesting diversity of vegetation is few highlights worth mentioning.
