You are here: Home / Destinations / AYURVEDA HERBAL MASSAGE
The aim of many Ayurvedic treatments is the balance of the three Doshas Vata, Pita and Kapha. In order to achieve this, the body is cleansed during treatments on the inside, as well as from the outside. On the inside through medicine and adjusted nutrition, on the outside through massages, thermotherapy and the environment. Through the restoration of the personal relative balance of the three Doshas, health disorder and illnesses are relieved and often removed. Is the balance achieved, diseases do not even appear.
Reactions
Body, mind and soul will be heavily stressed during your stay due to treatments, medicine, changed environment, different nutrition, etc.
It is possible that you will feel very tired and require a lot of sleep (especially if you overworked yourself lately). It is even possible that in the first few days psychological reactions occur such as insomnia, nightmares, depressions or even light aggressions. One can speak of a psychological cleansing, it is only important that you know that everything will pass after ca. two days to maximal five days. It even shows you that your body responds and reacts positively to the Ayurvedic treatments. Due to these reasons are treatments with the duration of one week or even less not sensible.
Please also keep a close eye on skin reactions: we would also strongly recommend you to read the information given.
Frequently, with the described reactions, you can help yourself so to speak, by e.g. sitting on our slightly raised Yoga-platform and to some extent watch the movement of the sea from above. By the way this is also a positive first step into meditation. It also often helps to sit and look at our waterfall. Enjoying the beauty of the setting sun or just watching the formation of the clouds is an especially calming experience.
Yoga
Yoga is a unique system of balanced exercises that maintain health of both body and soul. Some important thoughts and attitudes on Yoga: Remain realistic and always strive to find a meaningful compromise.
Approach the exercises with a relaxed frame of mind and don’t get annoyed with yourself should you not achieve your targets straight away.
Exercise control over your ambitions and emotions prior to attempting difficult exercises
Listen to your inner voice and strive to be independent from the opinion of others.
Accept yourself the way you are – with all your strengths and weaknesses.
Take on responsibility for your own health.
Materialistic values and comfortable living alone have never healed an ill person!
Healing through Yoga:
You will know yourself that the human body is able to heal itself. The more you know about yourself and your environment the more you will be able to trust the law of nature.
Choose fresh foods as often as possible. Get used to eating small potions.
A healthy body is able to clean itself from poisonous and toxic materials.
Yoga encourages meat free diet.
Food is not only for physical fitness but also for mental well being.
Yoga every day:
Always carry out exercise on empty stomach.
Concentrate on yourself, your breathing and your movements. The target is:
yourself, your concentration, you breathing and your movements shall be balanced.
All exercises shall have your full attention and should be carried our slowly. Try not to think about anything else.
Forcing yourself can be more harmful that beneficial for your health.
Be patient with yourself, exercise regularly and with motivation.
Always finish your routine with a relaxation exercise.
If you feel active, healthy, enlightened and relaxed after your routine, you will have discovered an enrichment.
The head massage serves to improve blood circulation of the entire head and promotes brain function as well as healthy hair growth. A treatment break can follow this massage. Should you wish to be outside during this time, please protect yourself against wind and direct sunlight with a headgear such as towel or scarf. Our fashionable(!) home-made “hat models” are perfectly suitable for this. Sometimes – especially at the beginning of your stay – hair might fall out! This is no reason to be concerned, as this is exclusively old hair, which in a short time will be replaced by new, healthy and strong hair.
Body massage / Synchronous-body massage
This massage stimulates tissue and arterial surface circulation. It causes the lifting of waste products in the tissue and allows for its excretion. Through this massage the medical oil will be brought through the pores into the body. Vital points (marmas) are strengthened and local disorders removed. The massage is carried out be two masseurs. And why two masseurs? Two are used because this way, the blood circulation is put under a more even pressure than can be achieved by only one masseur. The pressure applied to the body should be pleasant, though not too intense.
Thermo massage / “Rhythmic drumming” massage with warm rice bags
Red rice or a mix of leaves is cooked in a fusion of milk and herbs which is then filled into a gauze-bag. With this bag special warm/hot oil is beaten into the skin. Caution: The warmth is sometimes perceived as being “very hot” and sometimes even as “too hot”, but it is of special importance as it promotes the deep penetration of the substances and oils. This allows the reduction of pollutants, especially in the joints and stimulates bone and tissue regeneration as well as the build up of muscular fibres and nerves. It is usually carried out only in the morning due to the deep effect and long term, it is found to be particularly tiring.
Forehead oil pour “Sheerodhara”
The Sheerodhara is an oil-jet therapy of the head area and has a special intense effect on the brain function and senses. A jet of warm oil is passed over the forehead and contributes to the detoxification of the following areas: forehead, eyes, nose, ears and mouth. This very relaxing treatment “cleanses the soul” and leads to a good and deep sleep and also relieves headaches. As it involves the entire head area and because of the wide-ranging-effects it should ideally be carried out early in the morning.
Following the Sheerodhara it is recommended that you rest for about 15 minutes in a closed room. You should put a towel around your head so that the warmth beneath it can recede slowly. As the treatment makes the entire head sensitive, draughts, wind or even air-condition should be avoided at any cost.
Whole-body-oil-pour / Sarwangadara
Warm oil in fine jets is directed over the entire body during this treatment. The oil used during this treatment collects and lifts accumulated toxic substances. These substances will be sweated off during the directly following thermotherapy such as steam bath, sauna or herbal bath. This treatment is found to be very relaxing. This is also the most costly Ayurvedic treatment, two liters of medical oil are used per treatment and person respectively.

He is clearly a very skilled driver. He is particularly knowledgeable about the history of the many places we visited. We were pleased we had Cyril as our driver.
